Dear Friends and Family,
The past six months have been a whirlwind. I left my Austin job, moved to Dallas, completed training, and—by God’s incredible provision—became fully funded. Now, by His grace, I’ve fully stepped into life and language learning here in Hat Yai. It’s nothing short of God’s faithfulness that this journey has begun and continues to be sustained.
It has been a very full month with so many big and small moments to celebrate—and so many reasons to give thanks to the Lord!
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. James 1:17
Language Learning
Module 1 has come and gone! I’ve been learning how to make new sounds, build vocabulary, and use simple phrases. It’s been humbling and so necessary as I grow in my ability to communicate, from buying food to building relationships.
It’s a joy to now be able to ask things like, “What is that called?” and to greet and thank people around the neighborhood, at food stalls, and with the children. Praise the Lord—I’ve started Module 2 feeling refreshed and excited, especially as I get to know my tutor and language teacher more deeply.
Also, I forgot how much student-Christy loved making study guides! And yes, my fellow ABA folks—I’ve got a growing stack of ITT cards 😊

Home Sweet Home

I’ve finally moved in, and I’m so, so grateful to have a place to call home. It’s a huge answer to prayer and such a steadying gift in this season of transition.
New Friendships
I recently met a Thai friend, Summer*, along with her sister and cousin. It was such a joy to hear their stories! They’re Hat Yai—born, raised, educated, and some now working at the nearby university. They kindly took me around campus and showed me some of their favorite spots. I’ve been so blessed by Summer’s warmth and deep love for her city and community.
Sundays
We’ve been visiting churches both in the city and in the surrounding areas. Worshiping alongside other believers in Thailand has been deeply moving. The Lord is clearly at work—it feels like a glimpse of heaven!
Praise!!!
Our team continues to see new groups forming, people joyfully choosing to follow Christ in baptism, and local churches being trained in simple, reproducible ways to share the gospel—doing it all together!
I'm a few steps closer to getting wheels (hopefully four!) after navigating immigration, banks, and hospital visits to complete necessary steps. Not everything has gone smoothly—but the Lord is teaching me so much about dependence. I’ve received so much grace through the help of locals, teammates, and above all, the Lord Himself.
I continue to praise God for His unchanging nature. Meditating on His immutability brings deep peace—His promises are trustworthy. He is my help yesterday, today, and forever. When my eyes are prone to wander into striving or worry, He gently reminds me that He is the Champion who initiates and perfects my faith. Every lesson He is teaching me and every gift He has given is good—because He is good.
Here are two songs that I have enjoyed singing to the Lord!
Please Join Me in Prayer
For the new believers who were recently baptized — that they would dwell deeply in Christ and joyfully share their new life with others.
For Summer* and her family — that they would come to know the Lord, and that our friendship would grow stronger.
For opportunities to meet new friends and neighbors, and to build meaningful connections.
For continued and deepening trust in Jesus as I navigate new surroundings and experiences.
For boldness and joy in learning and using the language in daily life.
Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;
let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with music and song...
For he is our God,
and we are the people of his pasture,
the flock under his care.
– Psalm 95:1–7
How can I be praising the Lord and praying alongside you? I’d love to hear—please share with me!
Grace and Peace to You,
Christy
